Hello August!

News and Updates:

Hello friends! Wow, July was busy! I had a great break with my family in Nantucket and did a lot of editing. We traversed our favorite hang out including Wickid Island Bakery, Nantucket Bake Shop (are you sensing a theme lol), the Sandbar, The Juice Bar (which is actually ice cream), and town. We also took a day to visit the Maria Mitchell museums. My boys loved talking to the very talented and knowledgeable staff at the aquarium and the Mara Mitchell House. We spent long afternoons on the beach at Madaket Harbor, Jetties Beach, and Smith Point Harbor. It was just what I needed to come down from a very busy year and reset myself.

As I mentioned I did a lot of editing on a book that has sat, probably for too long in my files on my computer. I completed the manuscript last week and sent in the book proposal to my editor. Cross your fingers with me, this will hopefully lead to a new book! It is currently in my publisher’s hand so we will see what they say soon!

I felt so refreshed and inspired when I got home that I also began on some new nail art videos. I am working on them now but you can get a sneak peek at some more things I added to the gallery. If you haven’t checked the gallery out in a while you might want to check here: Nail Gallery – Kimberly Sherman-Cook (kimberlyshermancook.com)

Here are some pictures of the month of July!

Lammas has also just passed us by! The beginning of August marks the time when the first harvest is pulled in. The bounty of the summer unfolds on our tables. I know my children and I like to visit the local farm stand and gobble up yummy cucumbers, tomatoes, corn, and squashes. August and Lammas is also a time when if you really listen you can hear the first perceptible signs of the hush of fall. Fall is not here yet but it is coming.

This time of year is also a great time to make corn dollies and wheat weaving. I feel as though this is always magical for me. This time of year is when I complete unfinished projects, clean up the house and take a final break before school begins. August is a time to turn the wheel once again and transition from the light half to the dark half of the year. I hope you all celebrated in some way that marked the last quarter of summer coming upon us. My family and I baked bread, and blueberry pie, and enjoyed a spectacularly sunny day with my boys.

As many of you know, I love the quieter times that are steeped in cooler weather, fires in the fireplace, and in general a good cozy afternoon. I am really looking forward to fall coming. I hope you all celebrated in some way that marked the last quarter of summer coming upon us. My family and I baked bread, and blueberry pie, and enjoyed a spectacularly sunny day with my boys. Now enough about the coming fall, let’s all enjoy the final weeks of summer wherever they take you! Be safe, be happy, be well my friends!
